D 1: Instructions for the Use of Sand and Gravel Disc Filters and Combined sand and gravel disc Filters

The sand and gravel wound disc filter uses sand as the filtering medium and mainly consists of water inlet and outlet, filtration storage tank, sand bed and sewage discharge hole, etc. The sand filter is regularly backwashed. During the backwashing process, the double-tank or multi-tank sand filter can supply power to the system. Sand filters can filter both organic and inorganic residues.

Operating Instructions and Principle of the Combined Sand and Gravel Disc Filter

The sand and gravel disc filter is filtered by the medium, and the filtration accuracy depends on the precision of the medium. The irrigation water source enters through the inlet pipe at the top of the storage tank and moves down through the gaps in the medium layer to seep in. The residue is filtered at the upper end of the medium layer. Purified water flows into the drainage outlet through the medium and filter components, where it is filtered for farmland irrigation.

Irrigation characteristics

The sand and gravel disc filter is a commonly used primary and intermediate filter in irrigation. It is widely applied in the primary and secondary filtration of underground water sources for irrigation (such as water conservancy hubs, ponds, canals, lakes, rivers and other open water resources), and can separate algae, suspended solids and organic chemical residues in the water.

2. The sand and gravel disc filter selects quartz sand as the filtering medium, and the filtering accuracy and actual filtering effect are determined by the internal filtering accuracy. At present, the filtration accuracy of our enterprise's sand and gravel filters can reach around 80 mesh (the size of quartz sand selected is 6-8mm). Meanwhile, the finer the medium, the greater the filtration accuracy, but the resistance will increase accordingly.

3. The sand and gravel filter can be used alone (without backwashing) or combined with several other filters according to the water demand and filtration accuracy requirements.

When choosing a manual backwashing sand and gravel filter, it is advisable to select as many storage tanks as possible. When choosing a fully automatic backwashing sand and gravel filter, it is advisable to select more than three storage tanks as much as possible.

2. Strictly select the filter in accordance with the rated flow rate, as an excessive total flow rate can cause the sand bed to pass through the flow channel, resulting in a decrease in filtration accuracy.

3. The high-flow design scheme can increase the resistance in the system.

4. The contaminated layer on the surface of the medium must be replaced with clean medium. The frequency of the solution depends on the water quality, generally 1 to 4 times a year.

When winter comes, the water in the filter should be drained to prevent it from cracking due to freezing.
