The automatic drain valve of the self-cleaning filter can generally be selected from types of valves such as electric ball valves, electric butterfly valves, solenoid valves, and hydraulic solenoid diaphragm valves. After the filter has been in use for a period of time, it was found that the automatic drain valve was leaking or did not operate.

Cause analysis

1, the use of ordinary solenoid valve, because the domestic solenoid valve is generally a pilot solenoid valve, the pilot hole is a non-small hole (0.3-2mm), and the water through the sewage valve is generally sewage containing a lot of impurities, the pilot hole is easy to be blocked by these impurities, and once the pilot hole is blocked, the diaphragm of the solenoid valve will be closed lax, resulting in leakage of the sewage valve. The electromagnetic coils of domestic solenoid valves generally have relatively high power (more than three times that of similar foreign products). High power means more heat generation, and more heat generation affects the lifespan of the electromagnetic coil. This is the reason why the failure rate of domestic ordinary solenoid valves is high.

2. When using an electric ball valve: As we all know, the valve core of an electric ball valve is a rotating stainless steel ball. Through the rotation of the actuator, the opening and closing effect of the valve is achieved. If there are many metal impurities and sand particles in the system, these impurities are very likely to clog the inner wall of the valve body and the space between the valve core, causing the valve core to not act properly or wear out, and thus resulting in water leakage of the electric ball valve.

3. Some manufacturers, in order to save costs, use electric butterfly valves as blowdown valves. When the water quality of the water system is poor and the frequency of cleaning and blowdown of the self-cleaning filter is high, the sealing parts of the electric butterfly valve are prone to wear, affecting the valve's closing performance and thus causing leakage.
